When a Period Becomes a Barrier

For some girls, menstruation is more than a monthly experience. It can mean embarrassment, missed classes, isolation and the painful feeling that they have to hide a natural part of themselves.

A girl should never have to sit quietly in class because she cannot afford a sanitary product.

She should never have to choose between her dignity and her education.

And she should never be made to feel dirty because she is experiencing something completely natural.

Through our Light Mentorship Program and community outreach initiatives, we reach young people with mentorship, encouragement, education and practical support that helps them face life with confidence.
